Looking to expand your indie pop horizon, or to seek your way into the genre, well then I have just the band for you.
Earlier this month, Post-Party, one of Ireland's fastest growing indie pop bands of today's generation, released their Debut EP, We're Not Getting Any Younger .
Produced by their lead singer, Keelan O'Reilly, We're Not Getting Any Younger soundtracks a perfect blend of nostalgic yet energetic songs about growing up, ranging from love songs to more sentimental songs, the record has a song for everyone to vibe to.
Starting off strong with their opening hit, Camera Shy, the song describes the process of a girl being afraid to admit her feelings in a relationship as she's unsure if the spark she feels is really there. This is an experience which most of us have had, making it a very relatable hit.
Kimbo, the song featuring the line from which the EP received its name, is a nod to living life with no regrets, doing what we love while we can.
Talkin About leans very much toward the pop side of songs, incrementing a feel good groove whilst the instrumental break gives a nod again to the soft rock aspects of things. This song is truly unique in itself and is definitely one that stands out on the record.
Onto the more sentimental songs, Turn to Gold is truly poetic with its lyrics, describing the revelation of finding the good things in life whilst trying to get over the past.
With The Body Electric up next, we delve into the more soft rock vibes. With reference to Walt Whitman's "I sing the body electric", Post-Party take this line and turn it on its axis putting emphasis on how sometimes things go a little pear shaped in a relationship.
Closing off with the ultimate banger, we have Everyone's a Liar. This song is full of feel good vibes, describing the ultimate feeling of falling for someone and how you forget everything around you when that one person becomes the most important person in your life. The guitar in this song is so air-tight, with the drums giving it that rhythm that makes you want to get up and dance whenever you hear it.
Overall, this EP is very creative lyrically, with the boys taking a very modern approach to soft rock in some aspects whilst still keeping it fresh. It's an EP that caters to a wide range of music tastes, delving into multiple genres.
Post-Party are a band who take a very modern approach to the music industry with their own unique sound that people will for sure want to know about.
