Post-Party Ignites Whelan’s Upstairs with Electrifying New Era: ‘That’s What I Call Living’

After wrapping up their Post-Party 2024 tour in April of this year, the new era of Post-Party emerged with a bang as the band performed a night of new (and some old) music to a sold-out Whelans gig on Tuesday night.
Since the release of Love You Everyday in 2019, Post-Party have continued to blend the energetic spirit of the early 2000s rock revival with the shimmering tones of 80s New Wave and indie influences. Consisting of members Matthew O'Reilly, Keelan O'Reilly, Tom Moran and Luke Kavanagh, Post-Party crafts youthful anthems that reflect on their formative years while casting an eye toward the future.
Following the announcement of Post-Party (That's What I call Livin' UK Tour 2025) in November, fans were further promised something special if we kept an eye on the Mailing List (did you know that Post-Party had a mailing list?!). At the beginning on December it was announced that Post-Party would be presenting a night of new music in Whelans on the 17th December to introduce the new era of Post-Party with special guests Stella and The Dreaming.

Stella and the Dreaming is an Irish alternative pop singer-songwriter known for her haunting melodies, poignant lyrics, and distinctive piano-driven sound. Opening Post-Party’s gig on Tuesday night, she delivered an intimate and enchanting performance that captivated the audience from the very first note. With her delicate yet powerful presence, Stella transformed the room into a hushed sanctuary, her raw talent and emotive delivery leaving the crowd utterly enthralled. It was a magical set, marked by her ability to command complete attention and create a profound connection through her music.
Post-Party kicked off their performance with a bang, launching into You Should Know By Now and instantly igniting the crowd's energy for what promised to be an electrifying night. Following this was Leave Me Alone, a track they'd performed during their tour earlier this year, but this time it received an even more enthusiastic response. The return of Love You Everyday had the audience cheering wildly, a nostalgic nod to the song that marked the beginning of Post-Party's journey. The highlight of the set came with That's What I Call Livin', the anthem of their tour and the new era they’re embracing. As the song played, I took a moment to look around and soak in the atmosphere—everyone completely immersed in the music, sharing in an unspoken joy. It struck me then: this, right here, is living. The magic of music is unmatched, bringing strangers and friends together to experience sounds that have transformed their lives in unique ways—a truly extraordinary feeling.

Blending fresh tunes like 90s, The Way It Used To, and Cheap Shot with fan favourites such as Kimbo, Being Honest, and my personal favourite, Turn To Gold, Post-Party truly came back with a bang. The mix of new and well-loved songs showcased their evolution while still honouring the sound that fans adore, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating what 2025 holds for this exciting new chapter of the band. As Matthew poignantly said on stage that night, Band members may change, the venues may change, but the feeling of performing to a room full of people will never change.
It seems that Post-Party have a very exciting year ahead of them and they have some very excited fans awaiting what is to come for the band in 2025.
